In some cases, the loss of hair from the brows may be a temporary problem or one that can be solved by an adjusted diet or by treating an underlying problem. Nutritional deficiencies, for example, can result in poor hair growth overall, which may be seen in thinning or damaged eyebrows. Vitamins A, B-12, C, D and Iron and biotin each play their part in healthy growth, and those with deficiencies may see sparser brows. What Happens During An Eyebrow Transplant?

In a similar way to traditional hair transplants, an eyebrow transplant begins with the extraction of hair follicles from an area of healthy growth on the scalp. This can either be done one-by-one or via a ‘strip’ method, which will be determined by your surgeon ahead of the procedure. Typically, at AHI we utilise the FUE method due to its non-invasive nature and the absence of scarring. When utilising the FUE method, donor hairs can be extracted individually from an area of healthy growth on the scalp. At the start of the procedure, you will be given a local anaesthetic to prevent any discomfort throughout the procedure. Following this, a section of your hair will be shaven down to provide better access to the follicles, after which the surgeon will make small incisions to harvest the follicles from your scalp. These incisions are only 1 or 2 millimetres in size, so won’t require stitches and won’t result in scarring and in some cases, harvesting may be possible without shaving any of the head. Following the harvesting, the ‘follicular grafts’ will then be cut down to a suitable size for the patient’s brows. Each follicle will be inserted back into the scalp using incisions of a similar size to those made for harvesting, carefully positioned and angled to mimic the growth of a natural eyebrow and lay flat against the skin. There is very little downtime required for an eyebrow transplant at AHI and so in most cases, you can return to regular activity within 24 hours. When opting for a transplant at one of our clinics, you are advised to stay at AHI branch for up to a week following your procedure so we can keep an eye on the healing process in the first seven days. During these days, you’ll be asked to come to a post-surgery check-up, after which you can spend the rest of your break exploring the local area and enjoying the rich culture in India.
