The specialized physician/surgeon or technicians transmit the harvested grafts and donor hair into the implanter Choi pen.The graft is inserted gently within the hollow needle, which is positioned at the end of the implanter pen, to be handed back to the specialized physician.Subsequently, the needle is inserted at an accurate angle of 40-45 degrees into the scalp by the surgeon. As the incision site is created, the graft is implanted by pressing down on the plunger.During a procedure, normally an amount varying from 2-6 Choi implanters and approximately 15-16 needles are concurrently used. They are handed between the physicians and their assistants.
Here are the biggest advantages of DHI hair transplants: Reduced time of grafts remaining outside the body, thus ensuring strong and healthy placement of the grafts. Excellent hair follicle survival rates. Reduced bleeding during the creation of the recipient area. Reduced trauma during graft handling. This leads to less damage in the blood supply to the area with implanted hair. Faster recovery during the postoperative phase, on both the donor area and recipient site. The patient can return back to his/her normal routine quicker. The recipient site does not have to be shaved. Thus DHI is a more suitable procedure for people who wish to keep their hair long. Bearing in mind, the donor area does need to be shaved down, and will be done onsite, prior to the follicular unit transplantation. Disadvantages of the DHI Technique DHI does have one general disadvantage in comparison to FUE hair transplantation: It costs slightly more. This is because it requires closer attention and accuracy during the procedure. The physician and staff members have endured long-term training in order to specialize in the DHI technique, and thus the expenses are greater than a FUE transplant. However, by comparison to costs overseas, DHI hair transplants in India are still an accessible price, and still promise the highest quality worldwide.
The DHI method is available for nearly all patients seeking hair loss treatments. But this wasn’t initially the case. In early stages of the Choi pen technique, only a certain kind of hair type was usable: thick, straight hair. Luckily this is no longer the case, and people with all hair types can enjoy natural looking results. Here’s how we got to the current stage of universal DHI use. The DHI method was developed by specialists at the Kyungpook National University in Korea. Their device, the Choi implanter pen, is generally considered the ‘original’ implanter pen device. Shortly after its creation, experts operating within the field started to conduct research, to best understand this new technique, and to see if it benefits all patients uniformly and universally. According to the results of their studies, however, they found that not all people were ideal candidates for utilizing the Choi implanter pen during hair transplant surgery. In the initial transplants using Choi pens, it was discovered that Asian patients with hair loss received better results compared to other ethnicities—largely because of the texture and thickness of their hair. The experts came to the following conclusion: Asian people’s hair (in general) is distinguished as thick and straight. On the other hand, the curly characteristics and thinner diameter of other races, makes it difficult to load their hair properly into the implanter, and to simultaneously be planted in the scalp. The sizes of the needles that were used in those studies ranged between 0.8-0.9 mm. Without the proper diameter and straightness, follicles could experience a bending effect, or could lead to incorrect graft placement and an excessive trauma for the follicles. Therefore, it was reported that not all patients are ideal candidates for the utilization of the Choi implanter pen during their hair transplant surgery. Some physicians disagreed with this statement, indicating that with increased training and experience with the Choi implanter pen, effective graft placement with any type of hair characteristics could be possible. With scientific and technical advancements, hair restoration procedures has improved over the past decade, reaching to a point where it is now possible to conduct hair transplant utilizing the Choi Implanter pen with any kind of hair characteristics, and on any reasonable number of grafts. So, yes, nearly all patients may opt for a DHI implant method if they choose, and can experience the same consistent, effective, predictable, safe, and natural-looking results as those initial Asian patients. Hair growth timelines are similar for all patients, too.
